Silver: published research is split, with the near-term tilt bearish but a contrarian recovery case building underneath.
On the cautious side, several recent analyses flag serious technical damage — silver has given back most of its prior rally and is sliding toward the psychologically important $50 area, with retracement levels reinforcing the downside path. Researchers in this camp also point to fading retail interest, outflows from silver-backed funds, and the risk that copper begins substituting for silver in solar manufacturing. One additional strand of recently published work frames silver as inherently speculative and prone to sharp mean reversion after euphoric runs.
The contrarian view, argued in a separate research thread, leans on physical market data: record COMEX deliveries so far in 2026 and heavy ongoing buying by state actors. That work points to the 1970s and 2008–11 cycles, when deep corrections gave way to new highs, and suggests accumulating into weakness rather than selling.
The published disagreement is mostly about horizon — weeks of pressure versus a multi-month recovery — not the facts of the selloff itself.
