Silver: published research leans higher, but the horizons differ sharply.
One camp of analysts expects a near-term technical bounce, noting silver has slid to its lows for the year after peaking earlier in 2024. Sentiment and momentum indicators look washed out, and short covering is underway — though these researchers warn that without a bounce soon, prices could slip further.
A separate strategic view argues silver is attractive on a 20-year horizon. The published case rests on a gold-to-silver ratio still well above its long-run average, plus growing industrial demand led by solar. The main risks flagged: higher copper mine investment lifting silver by-product supply, and sustained positive real interest rates.
A more cautious thread of recent research sees silver lagging near term. With the gold-silver ratio around 74.7, higher-beta silver tends to underperform during rate scares and is unlikely to lead any rebound until the Fed removes policy uncertainty.
The common thread across these views: weak now, stronger later, pending technical repair.
